Think big, start small, learn fast

Paulo Caroli
MVP, short for Minimum Viable Product is a concept that emerged in Silicon Valley and became very famous from many successful stories such as Facebook, Zappos, Dropbox, amongst many others. The MVP, as the name implies, is the simplest set of features made available to users to validate an idea and collect essential data to guide the direction of the product. Let´s have a good conversation about MVP and how to successful align people and build the right product.

Kubernetes Native Java with MicroProfile and Quarkus

Roberto Cortez

Java doesn't work well in a container on Kubernetes right? Too big? Too slow to start? Not anymore with Quarkus! Quarks significantly reduces the container resource requirements for memory and startup, while still supporting standard API's like Eclipse MicroProfile.

How to make your application up to 60x faster with native images

Elder Moraes

In a world with more and more distributed applications e with no state control, one of the biggest challenges is performance (being related to startup or even to the response to the first request). This context made Java a big doubt for a while in approaches like serverless, microservices, and containers. But these times are over! Today there are not only platforms that take Java to a brand new performance level, but we also have something which allows us to take a step further: the native images. Join us in the session and learn what can and what cannot be done with native images, and how you can run your code 60x faster today.

On Breakthrough Modeling

Vaughn Vernon

KEYNOTE

Time matters and there is almost never enough time to methodically design and implement applications and full system solutions the way they should be. Speed of design all the way to bug-free implementation is urgently needed. How can you use EventStorming to drive low-cost, rapid, big-picture, and implementation-level modeling that rolls gracefully into DDD implementation at record speeds? Join me for this talk and be astonished by the possibilities that seem unachievable.

Better software, faster: principles of Continuous Delivery and DevOps

Bert Jan Schrijver

The Wall Street Journal already mentioned it in 2011: Software is eating the world. Nowadays, every company is an IT company. Businesses see their competitors release new features to end-users every day and demand the same from their own software teams.

But how do you measure up to this heavy pressure as an IT organization? How do you quickly make changes to software systems in fast-paced environments without losing your grip on quality? How do you build and test software in such a way that it's always in a releasable state?

This session explains the principles of Continuous Delivery and DevOps. You'll leave this session with enough insights into how and where to get started yourself.

Artificial Intelligence through the ages

Vasco Veloso

Everybody and their aunts talk about AI and want to use it. How many know for how long has humanity been dreaming about it? What is the oldest known record of an imagined autonomous vehicle? Let?s find out how artificial intelligence has been envisioned, from Antiquity until today.

Books, movies, scientists, researchers? We will look at the history of AI with compelling examples and stories taken from some of the most important periods of this journey towards creating intelligent entities. It will be a great ride!

At the end of this talk, you will have a good understanding of the history and reasons behind the research that led to today?s features and tomorrow?s advancements.

Build products that users love

Amir Shevat
What are the common mistakes every product person makes? How do we build the right product for our users to love? In this session we will learn about the 3 deadly sins of a product, as well as ways to overcome them and build products that people love.

Modern Java App Development in the Cloud: MicroProfile, Quarkus, and Cloud Run

Mads Opheim / Rustam Mehmandarov

So, you need to have your Java app deployed and available for your users fast, and you would like to do as little managing, wiring, and infrastrastructure work as possible. How can you achieve that? Well, you go serverless with your containers using supersonic Java in the Cloud!

Join us exploring the possibilities with MicroProfile and Quarkus on Google Cloud Run. Bleeding edge Java!

Scared of the bleeding edges, or vendor lock-in? Don?t worry, with MicroProfile, you can switch to another app server with no changes to your code. Oh, and as promised, there will be little wiring and infrastructure.

Artificial intelligence for environmental proposes ? real applications

Sarah Martins

AI allows us to integrate many sources of data, which is important to get the complexity of natural systems. Remote sensing is a rich source of information, because of the range of the signal, which is important to get a high-dimensional space to play with. Using AI, it is possible to use a big dataset to support decision-making. As real applications, we present three study cases in ML for mapping land surfaces from satellite and drone images: (i) linear regression to access the historical behaviour of organic matter in a reservoir from satellite data; (ii) SVM for land cover automatic mapping from historical satellite data; (iii) CNN to smart farming proposes using drone.

Lean Digital Transformation for humans by humans

Christopher Thompson

We are seeing a major disruption for nations, organisations and individuals - the result of global pandemic and the acceleration of digital channels and processes. It is time to RETHINK, REFOCUS and REBUILD... for humans - It is time for a Lean Digital Transformation.
