TECHNOLOGY CREATING TOMORROW

TESTING TRACK INTERNATIONAL

What is the future of the QA role?

Software testing and the role of quality professionals are constantly changing. Our importance is growing in the technical reach as much as the customer experience is gaining importance. Also, the margin for business error is reduced with the competition.

Which technologies are we going to use for software testing?

What quality process improvements should we do?

How can we improve the customer experience using these new technologies?

Are you ready for the future?

Welcome to TDC Testing Track! After all, we build the future today, now!

Test Automation Journey - Myths, Beliefs, Best Practices and Experiences

Kushan Amarasiri

This talk will highlight the journey of test automation that any software development and delivery organization will need to listen to. It shares the myths and beliefs that organization, management, customers and even test engineers have when they engage upon test automation, where some of them are wrong and misuses the true aspect of test automation. The talk also highlights tools for test automation its awesomeness and limitations and the best practices and standards that a project should adapt to put the test automation practice for the right track. The talk will share my experiences with true cases which will be a good learning point to the community.

The Screenplay Pattern: Better Interactions for Better Automation

Andrew Knight

Automating test interactions is hard. For the past decade, the primary way to automate web/mobile UI interactions has been the Page Object Model. Unfortunately, page objects do not scale well. By design, they allow lots of code duplication and unsafe activity. The Screenplay Pattern is a much better pattern for handling interactions. In Screenplay, Actors use Abilities to perform Interactions. In this talk, I'll introduce the Screenplay Pattern using the .NET implementation named Boa Constrictor. I'll show how to write a simple search engine test in C# using Screenplay calls with Boa Constrictor. By the end of this talk, you'll be empowered to make better interactions for better automation!

Test Automation for Microservices in the age of digital banking Darwinism

RUDOLF GROETZ

Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) started in 2017 with ?Group Digital Solutions? a journey in order not to oversleep the digitization of the banking industry.

Due to new approaches such as DevSecOps & Continuous Testing, the topic of software tests, whether manual or automated, had to be completely redesigned and implemented.

This talk gives insights into the test strategy & the fullstack test automation architecture that was used.

So that Raiffeisen Bank International can keep up with digitization in the banking sec

Replicating production in your tests with the magic of containers

Grace Jansen

Containers have revolutionised how we design and build our applications. But with this move to containers, the parity between our development, testing and production environments has drifted even further apart. So how do we effectively test our cloud-native applications?
Enter MicroShed and the Testcontainers frameworks - enabling true-to-production environments by leveraging the magic of containers with minimal re-writing of your test code. This talk will give you a great overview of this technology and will demo how simple it is to create and run a MicroShed test in Maven.

Common Testing Strategy to test IoT applications for various industries

Vipin jain

IoT is no more a technology to learn, rather the IoT applications have invaded our homes and is present all around us. As testers it is a huge challenge to device strategies to test IoT based applications and is often impossible to test each and every device, connections, protocols, hardwares, softwares and firmwares. Each industry adopts IoT differently hence we need to find a common set of tests which can always be a starting point for any tester. He can off course add more tests which will be industry specific. My presentation is an outcome of a lot of thought process applied to develop such a test strategy.

Supercharge Your Cypress Tests With Plugins

Gleb Bahmutov

Do you like writing End-to-End tests using Cypress? What if I told you that you can unlock the full power of Cypress by ... writing JavaScript code to extend the built-in Test Runner features? Be able to add more testing features, write shorter tests, have more power at your disposal? Most people only scratch the surface of the web application tests, but if you learn how to use the existing plugins (and there are lots of them!) and write your own can take your tests to the next level.

Evolution of Quality Approaches in Software Development

Tomasz Konieczny

Software development evolved significantly in recent years. Trying to deliver business value and new functionalities faster and faster required both process and technological changes. Quality assurance became extremely difficult - how to develop rapidly and still create high-quality software? During the talk, I will show the evolution of quality approaches. You will see why the classic ones may not work anymore and what are the possible future directions.
